China-US Talks: Beijing Open If Trump Shows Respect

Interesting, if you reframe the question, the rather weak confirmation that Trump did not physically intimate Members of Congress (so my first question would be, so he did non-physically?), and ask "did the Proud Boys or similar groups intimate Members of Congress during the impeachments, the answer is suddenly yes, and they even bragged that they are doing it on the orders of Trump.

So the #Trump45 already did intimate #Congress even if he did with a fig leaf in place.

Just wondering, who wants to bet that if Congress suddenly found its spine and started an impeachment, a surprising number of families of Congress Members would suddenly accidentally disappear into ICE lockups?

Not sure if anyone remembers the rumours during Trump45 that Congress Members felt unsafe during the impeachment proceedings.

Hm… sind die USA eigentlich derzeit als sicheres Herkunftsland deklariert?

The SAVE Act is bad for America. The John Lewis Act is what we need.

The SAVE Act would disenfranchise millions of citizens, many of them women, by requiring them to show a passport or birth certificate to register to vote.

"Trump administration denies FEMA funds to Democratic-led states

Late last week, the Trump administration officially denied the state of Washington’s request for disaster aid to assist with recovery efforts related to last year’s 'bomb cyclone' that killed at least two people and damaged hundreds of homes and businesses.

(. . .)

Denying federal disaster aid to areas led by Democrats has become a trend for President Donald Trump — one that dates to 2018, when his first administration withheld aid from Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria."

@mt Yes, the EU is not perfect. It is, to a certain extent, a victim of its success. Founded 1957 by six nations that 12 years ago were at war with each other (🇨🇵🇩🇪🇮🇹🇧🇪🇱🇺🇳🇱), it was meant to replace the centuries-old cycle of recurring wars with economic cooperation and prosperity for its residents.

And it worked remarkably well. Now, almost 70 years and 21 additional member states later, it needs to grow up and modernise. But it is still the best idea Europeans ever had and it's worth to protect!

@DP0 It's really strange how under-apprciated the EU is by lots of Europeans.
@mt Actually, it is less underappreciated, but more that all its benefits became so evident in the last decades that people take them for granted. Brexit is a perfect example of that: even the Brits that voted leave were absolutely shocked when they suddenly realised that all of a sudden, they needed passport and visa, lost regional EU funding, required sanitary checks for exporting, lost acknowledgment of professional certificates, etc. They took all of this for granted ... until they lost it.
