#Police vehicle (at least in Germany) have #Infrared flashers so helicopter crews can identify them. The normal blue lights don't show up in nightsight.
It is also used for silent alarms.

I wonder if you could exploit this to easily detect police cars, for example using the rapid rhythmic change of infrared light.
