But … how can it flood up the middle of the streets, but NOT flood the houses either side?
These streets aren't in deep canyons, it's a mild hill, rising from the lake on the right, to the hill on the left.

On today's evening ride to collect my reservations from the library, I personally increased the crowd at a twilight council-sponsored concert by eleventy jillion finity %!

For the first hour, I was the entire audience. Well, my bicycle was there too.

It must be 'character building' to perform to no-one 🤔😢

A few other people did arrive, including one lady who brought two folding camping chairs, two blankets, several bags, a bowl, bottles of water … and a happy little handbag dog.
After setting the doggy up in one of the chairs, and swaddling it in a blanket, and filling the bowl with water for it, she left.

So the dog went into full-on non-stop attack/yap/bark mode! Objecting to the people in the audience, passers by, cars entering the nearby car park, cars leaving the nearby car park, other dogs in nearby suburbs, probably the singer attempting to sing over it.
Luckily the owner returned when it had only dragged the camp chair 2/3rds of the way to its nearest victim's throat.

The great cycle of life continues:
- lake level goes down
- houses dry out
- "For Sale" signs go up

I'm (no longer) surprised at how regularly these floodable lakefront houses sell.

Well, here I was thinking that now that the rain had stopped, things were looking better.
But just got an "Evacuate now!" SMS from the SES 🤯

However, I think I'll treat it with some scepticism 🤔 despite my reasonable proximity to the lake.
