Chapter 39 is done and everyone's in crisis

Now, I've just got to write my way out of the mess

And my first move, at the start of chapter 40, is to extract my main character, Jim Blessed, out from the situation, put him on a train and send him south. I'm not sure why

Perhaps distance will give perspective
