How satisfied are you with your current story? Why or why not?
Rereading it now, for the purpose of reviewing and editing, I am very satisfied. It makes me smile and even laugh in places

There’s satisfaction in crafting a good sentence. What satisfies your writer's ear?
Here’s one from the text I’m editing right now:
‘Jim is silent while he sips his tea.’
It’s simple but it sings
The repeated ‘i’ helps and the repeated ‘s’
And the i-sounds resolve in the ‘ea’ of tea at the end ☕️
I have no idea, tbh

If in the middle of the book your MC discovered a foundling, what would they do with it?
If this is Elyssia we're talking about, she would take them in, make them part of the family, tackle whatever official stuff needed to be done and, in the end, probably fight to adopt them
#ScribesAndMakers 2 Whatever?
Aidan set out from Iona to come here. Perhaps he didn't know what he was going to do either. Was he up to it? Whatever it was? Convert the heathen Saxons?
It must have sounded like a death sentence.
“I don’t know,” Jim said.
“I do,” Mis said. “You’ve got to grab it with both hands, Cousin James!”
“It’s Jim, Mis! Jim! Don’t ever call me Cousin James, again.”
“Sure, Jim. Whatever. Go home and tell your wife.”

What rôle does death play in your work?
In the natural course of things, death is usually there or thereabouts
Now I look more closely, it seems death is always there or thereabouts
#novelx1: 1. traffic 'accident'
/ 2. suicide
#novelx2: 1. father [MC1]
/ 2. army service in Belfast
/ 3. both parents [MC2]
#novelx3: 1. wife
#novelx4: 1. suicide [ref x1 above]
/ 2. terrorist bomb
#novelx5: 1. Covid19
#WordWeavers Aug 16: Who is your most flamboyant character, and is it more visual, behavioural, or something else?
That would have to be Elyssia ... and it is all in the behaviour
Interesting that I don't have any visually flamboyant characters 🤔

Your MC is lost in a busy city…
Nice question
Novelx1: Broderick Arnot, lean against a wall looking lost until someone offered to help
Novelx2: Theresa, take refuge in a cafe and ask the barista
Tom would never consider himself lost
Novelx3: Andrew Bridge, hail a cab
Novelx4: Elyssia, ask the first person to walk by: “Where the hell am I?”
Novelx5: Jim, phone Gill (his wife) & ask where he’s supposed to be

Describe the mood of the opening paragraph of your story using 3 adjectives
excited wide-eyed happy
'“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Artemisia gushes. It is March the twenty-first and, because the Equinox happened sometime during the night, it is now officially Spring. “I never thought you would actually ...” She tails off, leaving the rest unsaid, looking round the room.'

What gives your characters a sense of self-worth or meaning in their life?
#novelx1
Broderick: working with a team; finding signs of (past) life in the soil
#novelx2
Theresa: sailing; helping people
#novelx3
Andrew: fighting climate change (even if it is a hopeless cause)
#novelx4
Elyssia: believing in a better world; the love of the man she loves
#novelx5
Jim: surviving day to day; keeping the Tidal Teashop open
Well. This is going well
Knocked off chapter 49 in no time at all and I'm now halfway into chapter 50, which, in theory, is the last chapter
Tomorrow will tell
Can I cram everything else into less than a thousand words? 😬
Jim has made his big announcement and now his daughter Gemima is in floods of tears. That was not what was supposed to happen
She was supposed to be happy
