White Flame in Shallow Water

I like this image of a snowy egret (Egretta thula) moving through a tidal pool. My usual preference is for a more symmetrical composition, with the subject centered to emphasize balance. Here, though, the off‑center placement and the visible motion tell a richer visual story. The lifted leg, the ripples trailing behind, and the open beak all suggest a moment unfolding rather than a static pose. It feels less like a portrait and more like a narrative—an image that carries the rhythm of movement and the quiet drama of the hunt.
