The light art piece Geopolitical Burger by Anne Roininen, first seen at Thesmallest Vallila festival, is going places! To Denmark, Ringkøbing and Videbæk, to be exact, adventuring in local foodstores. The Burger is part of Media Art Days festival, based in Brogården Kulturvæksthus.

Thesmallest Vallila päättyy sunnuntaina 12.10. Käy nyt, ettei sitten myöhemmin kaduta!

Viikonloppuna on myös erityisohjelmaa eli peräti kaksi kuraattorikierrosta.
Lauantain 11.10. kierros alkaa 20:15 teokselta 1, Virtaintie 14. Kierros toteutetaan yhteistyössä Suomen valotaiteen seura FLASHin kanssa.
Sunnuntain 12.10. kierros on suunnattu erityisesti valoalan ihmisille ja toteutetaan yhdessä Suomen Valoteknillisen seuran kanssa. Se alkaa ravintola Pikku-Vallilan edestä jo 18:45.
Kierrokset ovat ilmaisia, ne pidetään suomeksi eikä niille tarvitse ilmoittautua etukäteen.

Thesmallest Vallila ends on Sunday, October 12. Go now, so you won't regret missing the festival later!

There is also special program over the weekend, namely two curatorial tours.
The tour on Saturday, October 11 starts at 8:15 PM at artwork 1, Virtaintie 14
The tour on Sunday, October 12 is aimed specifically at professionals of light and is carried out in collaboration with the Suomen valoteknillinen seura. It starts in front of the Pikku-Vallila restaurant at 6:45 PM.
The tours are free, they are held in Finnish, and you don't need to register in advance.

Tervetuloa Thesmallest Vallilan kuraattoreiden seuraan festivaalikierrokselle 11.10. klo 20:15 alkaen. Kierroksella saat lisätietoja festivaalista ja sen kuratoinnista sekä taideteoksista. Kerromme myös melko tosia tarinoita kulissien takaa ja valotaidefestivaalin järjestämisen realiteeteista.

Kierros alkaa ensimmäiseltä taideteokselta osoitteesta Virtaintie 14, kestää noin tunnin ja on ilmainen. Kierros pidetään suomeksi.

Pasi Rauhala's Disco Pope is the most colourful artwork of Thesmallest Vallila, and at the same time the most spiritual, I'd say. I mean, it has a pope in it! The artwork was inspired by the nominating Francis as the pope, and the traditions pertaining it. In time, more characters, like beggars, were added and the message turned more political. The artwork is placed on the counter of restaurant Pikku-Vallila, a fitting place if I may say so myself.

Anne Roininen's artwork Geopolitical Burger is in two parts. The first one is found at the prepared food section of Alepa store, and the second in the window grill of Pub Magneetti, a local bar with all-year-round Christmas lights decorations, and a lovely place in other scales as well.

A House to Inhabit (2002) by Terike Haapoja is one of my very favourite artworks ever, and I was so happy to have a version of it in Thesmallest Vallila festival. In a model scale, of course: A Doll House to Inhabit.

It was a memory lane in another way as well, since I did some soldering for the lamps. It's been a while!
