BruceAn excellent thread by the New York Times Pitchbot. It's about the fact that saying, "we're divided" is another way of saying "both sides are at fault." One side is causing all the problems. It is a party-before-country party and that fact attracts grifters and narcissists, and they attracted the attention of Vladimir Putin. The division has a cause and #TheRepublicanPartyMustDie (disband).
We do *NOT* need a sane Republican Party.
They went off the rails *LONG* before they went completely nuts. You remember treason at the Paris Peace talks? Party-before-country ever since (and likely before). We need a sane *SECOND* party.

Assuming a conviction and tRUmp becomes president (God forbid!):
If they don't try it, then the probability of successful evasion of consequences is 0. (Consequences are certain.)
If they do try it, it is greater than 0, but by an arbitrarily small amount (epsilon).
Zero vs. non-zero: they are guaranteed to try it.

We had it in 2009. If Republicans continue their self immolation program (#TheRepublicanPartyMustDie), it could happen again. To do so, Dems must convince small states that they will be looked after and the pro-Putin fanatical pseudo-news sources need to be knocked down. Fox is on its way. We'll see.
Obviously. It's been spiraling down for at least 55 years, when they decided it was okay to torpedo the Paris Peace Talks to keep Humphrey from getting elected.
The other two major inflections:
* 1995 - Newt - Democrats should be kept from having any say in govt.
* 2016 - tRUmp
tRUmp may win out, but we can _all_ hope and pray that the Republican Party tears itself apart. They've been on a downward spiral since at least 1968 when they decided it was okay to support a guy who torpedoed the Paris Peace Talks. Obliteration is overdue.
The Republican Party has gone completely to the dark side. Why the whole party and not individuals? Because they do not stand up against this horrific stuff. They dance around it pretending they have no culpability.

It definitely has _not_ been a steady progress. It's had a lot of fits and starts, with major inflections along the way. The biggest:
* Tricky Dicky treason in Paris (1968)
* Ford's pardons (1974)
* RayGun Iran hostages / treason again (1980)
* GHW Bush pardons (1992)
* Newt's war on Democrats (1995)
* blocking FL recount (2000)
* tRUmp (2016-2023...?)
Each elevated party/personal interests way ahead of the national interests.
