The Republican Party is only committed to maintaining its own power. Nothing more, nothing less. It is rapidly becoming the American fascist party.

Montana House Republicans' silencing of Zooey Zephyr is just the latest example.

"The Republican Party is only committed to maintaining its own power." -- and has been for 55 years. In other words, it is *NOT* new behavior.

@bruce_korb @rbreich @ap For a couple of years we see new dimensions. Remember. Sad peak of this January 6th United States Capitol attack. Again and again happen things, the world is creeping about.

It definitely has _not_ been a steady progress. It's had a lot of fits and starts, with major inflections along the way. The biggest:

* Tricky Dicky treason in Paris (1968)

* Ford's pardons (1974)

* RayGun Iran hostages / treason again (1980)

* GHW Bush pardons (1992)

* Newt's war on Democrats (1995)

* blocking FL recount (2000)

* tRUmp (2016-2023...?)

Each elevated party/personal interests way ahead of the national interests.
