Il Tempo: Trasporti, Sgroi (Italo): "Connettività e impatto sociale centrali nella sostenibilità"

Roma, 20 mag. (Adnkronos) - “Anche noi, lato trasporto ferroviario, stiamo provando a sviluppare un approccio all'impatto socio-economico del trasporto”. Lo ha dichiarato Fabio Sgroi, Health & Safety manager di Italo, intervenendo a Roma all'incontro promosso dalla fondazione Pacta dedicato agli scenari della decarbonizzazione del trasporto e ai suoi effetti su competitività e mobilità. Sgroi ha sottolineato come il dibattito sulla sostenibilità sia spesso concentrato sulla sola dimensione ambientale, mentre andrebbe ampliato anche agli effetti sociali ed economici. “Ho ascoltato con particolare interesse gli interventi - ha spiegato - e aggiungo che alla parte economica va affiancata quella sociale. Quando parliamo di sostenibilità, troppo spesso ci fermiamo alla componente ambientale”.
Nel suo intervento, il manager di Italo ha evidenziato il ruolo della connettività come fattore di beneficio diffuso: “La connettività rappresenta un valore sociale importante. Rendere più facile spostarsi all'interno della comunità europea e, nel nostro caso, in Italia, genera un effetto positivo che può essere ulteriormente valorizzato nei tavoli decisionali”. Sgroi ha poi richiamato il tema dell'intermodalità come elemento chiave per la riduzione complessiva delle emissioni: “È fondamentale rendere sempre più integrata la mobilità, considerando anche l'ultimo miglio e la somma delle emissioni dei diversi segmenti di viaggio”.
Infine, un passaggio sulle difficoltà comunicative del settore. “Quando si entra nella dimensione tecnica - ha osservato - diventa complesso comunicare questi aspetti, con il rischio di una percezione distorta che può incidere anche sulle valutazioni economiche e operative”.

Sgroi emphasized that the debate on sustainability is often focused solely on the environmental dimension, while it should also be expanded to social and economic effects. “I listened with particular interest to the interventions – he explained – and I add that the economic part must be accompanied by the social one. When we talk about sustainability, we often stop at the environmental component.”

In his intervention, the Italo manager highlighted the role of connectivity as a beneficial factor: “Connectivity represents an important social value. Making it easier to move within the European community and, in our case, in Italy, generates a positive effect that can be further valued at the decision-making tables.” Sgroi then referred to the theme of intermodality as a key element for reducing overall emissions: “It is fundamental to make mobility increasingly integrated, also considering the last mile and the sum of emissions from the different travel segments.”

Finally, a passage on the difficulties of communication in the sector. “When you enter the technical dimension – he observed – it becomes complex to communicate these aspects, with the risk of a distorted perception that can also affect economic and operational assessments.”
