Did Indira Gandhi Order Indians To Avoid Buying Gold In 1967? The Hindu Fact-Checks AI-Generated Fake News
this is a good interview in #TheHindu on the ongoing US-Israel attack on #Iran, and this part is very interesting. This is becoming a total defeat for #trump & the #US. US removed sanctions on both Russian and Iranian oils. The Strait of Hormuz was open and Iran was not controlling it before the start of this attack and now, #Hormuz is closed and opening it back has become the primary objective of this war!.. Even if Iran opens it, they are going to keep it under control and going to charge a #toll on the ships passing through the #strait. A total defeat for US!
they(Iran)’re selling more oil than they did before at a higher price. Prior to the war, they sold about 1.1 million barrels at $65 with an $18 discount because of the sanctions, meaning $47. Now, at least as of three days ago, they were selling at $110 with a $2 to $4 discount. They’re making more money than they were before as a result of this. www.thehindu.com/news/international/trita-parsi-interview-us-israel-iran-conflict-war-complexities/article70799394.ece#TheHindu:

This is an excellent article in #TheHindu on the proposed One Nation , One Election process in #India. I had been saying that this is a way of transforming India into a presidential democracy from the current parliamentary system to help concentrate the powers on one man (One nation, one leader!). Something similar to what happened in Turkiye.
This article echos my views.
A decent #editorial in #TheHindu on #Modi's recent visit to Israel. Some highlights.
The Prime Minister said that India shared the pain and grief of every life lost in the October 2023 terror attack by Hamas but made no mention of the high toll — more than 72,000 killed — in the strikes on Gaza by Israel since then.a decision to “stand with Israel, firmly... ” could come at the cost of India’s relations with other West Asian powers, which expect India to remain steadfast to its historically calibrated regional balance, and to principles of peace, morality and compassion in the Israel-Palestine conflict.www.thehindu.com/opinion/editorial/taking-sides-on-prime-minister-narendra-modis-visit-to-israel/article70680503.eceThis is an excellent article by @sanjayuvacha exposing the divisive politics of #India's ruling regime and how it uses cultural contexts to advance their agenda.
Think about what it means to force a Muslim civil servant, a Christian schoolteacher, a Sikh soldier, a Buddhist monk, or an atheist scientist to stand at attention while these verses are sung. That is not fostering unity. That is imposing a religious test in a secular republic.#TheHindu #VandeMataramControversy #NationalSongThis is a good read from #TheHindu on the #TradeDeal between #India and #US.
Clearly India has surrendered to US bullying and this deal is no way benefitting India. It is going to have a major impact on India's farming sector making India a vassal state.
Some excerpts from the article.
The Palestinian troupe that should have staged the play "The Last Play in Gaza" at ITFoK, didn't get travel clearence to travel to India. But the empty stage itself became a form of resistance.
At ITFoK, The Last Play in Gaza did not reach the stage. But its absence became an act of presence—proof that erasure is never complete, and that theatre, even when denied, can still speak#theatre #ITFoK #Gaza #Palas #India #TheatreFestival #Palestine #TheHindu #news
