Tal día como hoy, un 9 de Febrero de 1964, Los Beatles tocaron por primera vez en televisión en el programa muy popular de la época como el Show de Ed Sullivan (The Ed Sullivan Show) obteniendo una audiencia record, en aquella noche se logró que 73,7 millones sintonizaran aquel programa que emitía el canal estadounidense CBS, una cifra sin precedentes para un programa no deportivo en aquellos años.

En aquel programa, tocaron el tema “All My Loving” y cerraron con su hit número uno de aquel momento. “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. Aquella noche se decía que Los Beatles provocaron un efecto “tregua” que EEUU disminuyo drásticamente los índices de criminalidad porque la gente estaba muy pendiente del show.

La actuación de Los Beatles sucedió 77 días después del asesinato de John F. Kennedy, un país en luto vio en aquella actuación un escape a una nación destrozada por aquel asesinato.
