After getting annoyed with #Android Google text with repeated adverts for emojis, to the extent that I constantly had to press Skip ( their technique presumably must be that if they spam you enough times you will accidentally "agree"), I decided to go for for Textra SMS , which is a lovely little SMS application . #Textra #TextraSMS. I'm happy to pay for quality, honest software. Wholly recommend these guys

I did try #SimpleSMS, and it works well. However, I found it too basic.
Instead I landed on #TextraSMS, that suits me well. I paid for the “pro” version and I don't see any ads at all. It was a one-time expense, and not a subscription.
The only weird thing I have experienced is that even though I have set Textra as my default SMS app, the stock SMS app will announce all SMSes that have arrived since last reboot as “new messages” whenever I restart my phone. Must be a bug somewhere…
