@3dcandy

Yeah just switching out one #technogarch for another. I’d suggest that #Zuckerberg is less volatile than #Musk, but I see little evidence of him restraining toxic algorithms which drive engagement

»Whether through a childish meme or via apparently respectful communication, over the internet or in a closed-door meeting, threats by powerful executives should not be accepted. The bullies should not be allowed to win.«

42) #Twitter’s numbers are continuing to slide while #Threads does not seem to be gaining any traction.

A space has been made by all the madness of the last year with distrust of the #Technogarch class, #SocialMedia is up for grabs.

Will the space opt for a more decentralized solution?

Exclusive Data: Twitter Is Shrinking Under Elon Musk

Twitter's lost 13% of its daily users and its rebrand has failed. But those remaining on the app are still engaged, according to new data from Apptopia. Threads, meanwhile, is a nonfactor.

A welcome decision Micah. Continued participation on #Twitter has certainly taken on a moral dimension and I encourage peers and people I admire to leave the platform. Some of my thoughts can be found at the link ⬇️

What surprises me though is the absence of discussion on the virtues of decentralization - no #Technogarch calling the shots, the absence of ads, the freedom from opaque algorithms. Would love to see your thoughts on these dimensions

13: Why Journalists Should Leave Twitter

The fact that Twitter is a mess is not news or a surprise. The transition to a new "X" logo and the elimination of the blue bird is just another exercise…

I would add that #Threads is not just privately owned but rather part of the #Meta complex controlled by Mark #Zuckerberg who empowered Cambridge Analytica to destabilize Western #democracy

I think that ugly blemish should dissuade thoughtful journalists from throwing their lot in with Threads

Do, or should, journalists really want a #Technogarch to govern the channel used to communicate with readership/followers?
