I have a therapy client who is obsessed with a certain video game. It's all they want to talk about. So I asked them "what happens if there's someone who doesn't want to talk about this game?" In the most brilliant way, the client explained "some kids can't even play video games because that doesn't align with their family's values, and that's okay because different families can have different rules." Y'all, if passionate 7 year olds can understand it, we can too. #teachingtolerance
Raise your hand if, in 2023, you’ve had to explain to your child why #RacistTransphobicAsshats claim Michelle Obama is secretly a man.
PS Explaining this to my white teenage son involved explaining the ways in which Black women were treated by slavers, how white beauty standards continues to perpetuate all that, and how that’s played out in sport (see the mistreatment of Caster Semenya & intersex & trans athletes) and politics.

@michelleplus8 The #Smithsonian #AfricanAmerican #History museum has teaching resources for early elementary kids. If you can get to their online bookstore, they also sell a great selection of children books. #TeachingTolerance is another good online resource the #homeschool families can adapt for at-home use. Don't forget the free #CrashCourse series with Clint Smith. It might be too advanced for your 3rd grader, but they're 10m videos that you can watch for ideas.
