100% AX.25 Packet radio was invented in 1978's after I got my HAM license 50 years ago.

It was a point-to point network with digipeaters in the middle. The first TNCs were designed by #TAPR in 1983.

Bob Bruninga took AX.25 packet and confined it to mostly a weather station and GPS tracker protocol (on the left).

#LoRaAPRS was the initial work of Peter Buchegger OE5BPA, Bernd Gasser OE1ACM, Christoph Gasser OE1CGC and Christian Johan Bauer OE3CJB. That's the vision on the right.

I'll be adding a LOT more material from TAPR, but the newsletter was a good place to start. #packetradio

@wz0c I mean conceptual entry point. A "getting started," a "how to," or even a "here's what you can do with it" would help a lot. I know it's #EmComm, but that doesn't help tell me why I want to spend a bunch of money and learn a new thing.

If it's only for EmComm, maybe one of the other/older network concepts would be better for me (#TAPR, #hamnet, etc.).

Or maybe this is only a problem because I don't have local ham friends.
