A ★★★ review of Sword of Sherwood Forest (1960)

One of Hammer's earlier non-horror efforts, Sword of Sherwood Forest is a perfectly watchable version of the Robin Hood story, even if it's missing a little swashing in its buckle. This production, distributed in the US via Columbia Pictures, casts Richard Greene as the outlaw in a reprisal of his role from the 1950s UK TV series. Greene is a fine Robin as he navigates a plot by a venomous noble and the Sheriff of Nottingham against the archbishop of Canterbury. He's lacking the energy or charm of other Robins such as Errol Flynn and very much gives away his
