A ★★★ review of Sword of Sherwood Forest (1960)

One of Hammer's earlier non-horror efforts, Sword of Sherwood Forest is a perfectly watchable version of the Robin Hood story, even if it's missing a little swashing in its buckle. This production, distributed in the US via Columbia Pictures, casts Richard Greene as the outlaw in a reprisal of his role from the 1950s UK TV series. Greene is a fine Robin as he navigates a plot by a venomous noble and the Sheriff of Nottingham against the archbishop of Canterbury.
