I found out today that the Swedish phrase "glida på en räkmacka" means that to luck your way through something. It literally means 'to slide in on a prawn sandwich'. I guess prawn sandwiches must be a tad on the big side in Sweden.
My eyes want to kiss your face.
I have no power over my eyes.
from the poem 'The Lover' by Solveig von Schoultz, translated by Anne Born (book = 'Snow and Summers')
My favourite poet, my most loved book. I have known that feeling.

Radio channel on my way to work had this poll going on, "what's the finest word in the Swedish dictionary?"
I always joke that ÖVERGÅNGSSTÄLLE (zebra crossing) was one of the hardest to grok as an adult learner of the language, but it's probably the one I like best too.
It's got it all:
- all weird vocals (å ä ö)
- Swedish compositing (över/ gång(s)/ ställe, over / walk / place)
- a hell of a ride when it comes to intonation (the difficult part)
