Wee Heavy, Strong Ale, Barley Wine: to my palette they're all part of a continuum and I love 'em all. My son does not: most are too sweet, with overwhelming malt wine or odd flavors from the barrel.

He liked this one, and so do I: strong malt, but nicely balanced with the hops and yeast, dry rather than sweet, with a gorgeous deep amber color. If you like Scottish Ales, give this a try. If you don't, try this one anyway; you might like it.

This is a lovely, full flavoured 8.5% ABV beer. It's fruity and malty and tastes exactly like a strong ale should. It's very easy to drink which could get me into trouble. Luckily I only have one left which I’ll save for another day.
