@trini We actually read all those for #StoryClub and that *might* have been how the person running them picked the stories to read, but I'm not sure.
We also read #RiverOfTeeth for #sffBookClub and it was terrific. So exciting to see these! I doubt I would have known anything about them without these clubs. ๐
All Systems Red looks really interesting and is on my "yeah I should get to that sometime" list. Guess I'll have to check out the others!
Apologies for the obvious toot, but I'm needing to take a hiatus on #storyclub (unless someone wants to take up the mantle?).
I'm hoping to have more time in a month or two. Hope everyone is enjoying their fiction!
The last line of this is one of my favorites, maybe my favorite ending line of anything really.
It stuck with me way after I read the story the first time and was a big part of why I suggested it for the group.
It's just such a cute, weird little twist.
And it makes me want to know more about Yannick, how he would have reacted if Norman had sought him out instead, etc.
Also I want to read his book.
I really like the vague references to the future, mostly in terms of things that are wrong here.
For example:
- We still treat animals like pets. I want to know more about the future animals.
- "โAt twenty-four, I was barely old enough to stand trial."
- People still "have to" communicate by text message.
The next #storyclub pick is "We Who Will Destroy the Future" by Margaret Killjoy. It can be found at:

@Einahpets I have a recommendation for #StoryClub
"We Who Will Destroy the Future"
https://resonanceaudiodistro.org/we-who-will-destroy-the-future/
It's by Margaret Killjoy, same author as a recent #SFFBookClub pick (The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion).
@Einahpets What makes a community? Or just a connection? In this world with no consistency or permanence and little choice, individuals and groups grasp at brief but meaningful expressions of unity.
