In case you need a motivation to stop tipping, Reddit is a great place to find that.

This person is complaining that they only made $200 on a good night. Yeah, that’s kind of how it works. That’s actually a good night. It makes up for the lunchtime on Tuesdays where you leave with $50.

Also go look at the Uber eats or spark driver or Uber subs. (Though I have a lot more empathy for people complaining that they only made $200 in one night if they’re driving their own vehicle to do that. I don’t think they make money after expenses.)

I know it’s been said before but this is legitimately insane : r/olivegarden https://www.reddit.com/r/olivegarden/comments/1kvl4n9/i_know_its_been_said_before_but_this_is/

@henry I am in the US and I have stopped tipping unless I really want to thank someone. And I still tip at the dispensary because I always want to thank them.

Now before someone comes for me I need you to understand that I don’t eat in restaurants. I know that servers in my state (NH) are paid $3.26 an hour, and I also know that they are required to tip out other employees based on their sales, so if I sit at their table and I don’t tip them it actually cost them money to wait on me. And I’m not going to punch down by taking out my frustration with business owners on people who only earn $3.26 an hour. (the main reason I don’t eat in restaurants is because I’m not interested in catching airborne diseases, but my anti-tip stance would prohibit me from doing that even if people stopped spreading disease tomorrow.)

At the end of 2020 the restaurant owners asked the state to pass a law that said if federal minimum wage went up servers would not get a raise and they would stay at $3.26 an hour. That motivated me to boycott them even if people stopped spreading disease tomorrow. How dare they. It’s not my job to pay their employees so they can enjoy record profits, especially after they all got free PPP loans that they bought cars and went on vacation with. Absolutely not.

I agree. Let's end this injustice and stop tipping. Restaurant owners should pay their workers a decent wage and not have them dependant on restaurant traffic.

Canada's tipping culture is flawed and there's no clear fix in sight: experts | CBC Radio

The “tip nudge” has quickly become a “well-established societal norm” in Canada, according to food economists. And many consumers say the country's tipping culture should be scrapped altogether in place of employers raising prices and paying their employees more.
