> French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that France intends to partner with Britain in hosting a conference focused on securing navigational rights through the Strait of Hormuz. Any naval deployment resulting from the talks would operate under strictly "defensive" parameters, he claimed.

In a post on X on Monday, Macron wrote: "The conference will be organised with the United Kingdom and countries willing to join us in a peaceful multinational mission." He added that the mission's goal would be to restore the ability of vessels to transit the Strait freely.

The French president emphasized that this naval operation would be purely "defensive" in nature and would remain separate from the belligerent parties.

Deployment would begin as soon as conditions on the ground permit, according to Macron.
