NO funding for Trump’s mass detention and deportations
Right now, Congress is taking the first steps of a process called budget reconciliation—a process that makes it easier for the party in power to drastically change how the government spends its money. One of the priorities of the current effort is to provide the staggering amount of resources needed to carry out the Trump administration’s plans for mass detention and deportations. Not only could this lead to hundreds of billions more dollars for immigration enforcement operations that separate families, disrupt communities’ entire social and economic infrastructure, and commit countless human rights abuses, but to do so Congress would also divert funding from programs and services that support everyone’s needs, like healthcare and food assistance. This is an outrage, but budget reconciliation can be a long and difficult process. You have an opportunity to make sure your elected officials do NOT approve this funding. Join us in urging your representatives to block the administration’s devastating attacks on immigrants by rejecting funding for enforcement, detention, and deportation throughout the budget reconciliation process.
