On this day in 2020, Sprinter 7012 at Stony Point.

22 Sprinter railcars were built by Goninan in Broadmeadow, NSW. They entered service in 1993 and have been used on most of the currently operational regional passenger lines in Victoria.

21 Sprinters are still in service today, operating on the Seymour and Stony Point lines. 7019 was scrapped after being badly damaged in a shunting accident at Spencer Street station (now Southern Cross).

7012 (pictured) was damaged in a fire at Seymour in 2016, but was refurbished and re-entered service almost 2 years later.

The Stony Point line runs as a shuttle service between the end of the electrified line at Frankston and the terminus at Stony Point. It is operated by Metro Trains Melbourne, using leased V/Line rolling stock operated by Metro Trains' crews.
