Next was an engaging conversation on the history of #antitrust at the #StiglerCenter with Luigi Zingales and Bethany McLean. If you missed the Stigler Center antitrust event from earlier this year (and it's definitely worth watching in its entirety), this is a good summary of a lot of the highlights as well as an excellent tour of the historical backdrop to the current thinking around antritrust enforcement. Next was a fantastic conversation with David Autor the impact of #tech, #labor markets, and #immigration on wages and the economy more broadly at the #StiglerCenter podcast. This wide-ranging conversation gets to the meat at what really matters for improving on the massive inequality that exists today. It's been a pretty busy few days, but I was able to listen to a bunch of great talks from the **#StiglerCenter**'s #antitrust conference for my boot-edition **#AcademicRunPlaylist**!

Day 2 of the event was as interesting as the first, and I highly recommend the entire slate of talks/panel. Considering labor effects, broader societal implications, & which M&A activity should be presumed to be anticompetitive are just some of the fascinating topics examined here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jsegmmv8ZdE #economics

The consulting economists' version of "There's an app for that" is "there's an exculpatory narrative for that (bad conduct)."

Paraphrasing #CristinaCaffara at the #StiglerCenter's #antitrust conference.

Next was a fantastic talk by Tarek Hassan on the diffusion of disruptive technologies at the #StiglerCenter. Using data from #patents, job posting, earnings calls, and #Wikipedia, Hassan demonstrates that only a few geographies generate essentially all impactful innovations, and that the diffusion of this tech follows predictably. Next was a great talk by Tarek Hassan on using earnings call text analysis to quantify perceived country #risk and relationship to asset prices, #investment, and other important outcomes at the #StiglerCenter. There's been a lot of work in this area recently, and I highly recommend this talk on an important approach as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMr3qHLuhRw (3/10) #NLP #economics #management
