"Gypsy" is a song by British-American #rock band #FleetwoodMac. The song was written by #StevieNicks around 1979; the earliest demo recordings were made in early 1980 with Tom Moncrieff for possible inclusion on her debut solo album #BellaDonna. When Nicks' close friend Robin Anderson died of #leukemia, the song took on a new significance and Nicks dedicated the song to her in future performances.

Not quite as strong as her first two albums, but still a solid effort in my opinion. While the opening track, "Rooms On Fire", is easily the standout and arguably overshadows much of what follows, there are still plenty of enjoyable moments scattered throughout the record. As always, Stevie Nicks' instantly recognisable voice remains one of the album's greatest strengths. There is also something interesting about the album's timing. By 1989, the glossy production and synthesiser-heavy sound that had dominated much of the decade was already starting to fall out of fashion, with musical tastes beginning to shift elsewhere. Even so, I think the album still sounds perfectly fine today. Rather than feeling completely dated, I think it works as a snapshot of a particular moment in popular music and fully embraces that late 1980s style. The cover artwork is another highlight; it has always reminded me a little of the artwork for Pat Benatar's 'Tropico', although the pose and colour scheme are quite different. I have to admit that the striking use of red gives Nicks the edge for me. Overall, 'The Other Side Of The Mirror' may not reach the heights of Stevie Nicks' earliest solo work, but it remains a very competent and enjoyable album. It captures the closing chapter of the 1980s sound while still offering enough strong songs and memorable performances to make it worth revisiting.

"Gold" is a song written and recorded by #JohnStewart in 1979. It was the lead single and biggest hit among three Top 40 singles released from his LP, #BombsAwayDreamBabies. The song was Stewart's first US Top 40 hit, as well as his first chart single in a decade (since "Armstrong" which peaked at #74 in 1969). #StevieNicks is featured on backing vocals. "Gold" became a top-five hit in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Rare Childhood Photos and Early Life Story of Stevie Nicks in the 1940s and 1950s

Stevie Nicks, the iconic American singer-songwriter famous for her work with Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist, had a unique and musically rich childhood. Born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, she grew up in a family that moved frequently across the American Southwest due to her father Jess Nicks' corporate career with Greyhound. The family lived in various cities including Los Angeles, Albuquerque, El Paso, Salt Lake City, and eventually settled in California. This transient lifestyle fostered a sense of rootlessness that later influenced the nostalgic and wandering themes in her music. Her grandfather, A.J. Nicks Sr., a country singer, played a pivotal role by teaching her harmonies at a young age and performing duets with her in local saloons. Her mother Barbara encouraged Stevie's imagination through fairy tales and folklore, shaping her mystical persona and poetic lyrics. At 16, Stevie received her first guitar and quickly wrote her debut song. She joined a folk-rock band in high school and famously met Lindsey Buckingham at a church youth event, where their instant musical chemistry began a legendary partnership. These early experiences laid the foundation for her distinctive style and enduring career in rock music.
