@FotoVorschlag 'Museum' From Old Uppsala Museum. A sculpture of Erik Jedvardsson. King during the second half of the 1150s. According to legend he was murdered when leaving church after a mass. He is a Swedish national saint and the patron saint of Stockholm. Feels a little odd to see him portrayed with his head still attached; on the Stockholm coat of arms and the flag of Stockholm only his head is included (since he was beheaded).

Kind of ironic that #StErik (he on Stockholm's city coat of arms), probably never set foot in #Stockholm.

From all accounts, he was king of #Westrogothia and died a martyr's death in #Uppsala. Which is apparently almost the only thing we know for sure about him: that he was beheaded and still rests in a coffin in #Uppsalacathedral.

From the isotope studies of the remains, we can also confirm that he mostly stayed in #Westrogothia

Trol. kung över #Västergötland o dog martyrdöden i #Uppsala.
