The paths were wet from spring rains when I took these pictures. Rue Anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides) is named for its dual resemblance to meadow-rues and anemones (the plants in the buttercup family, not the squishy sea invertebrates).

Earlier this spring, I came across several all-green Jack-in-the-pulpits (Arisaema triphyllum). They can be difficult to spot on the forest floor, but once you train your eye, you can’t miss them. I look forward to seeing these woodland inhabitants each year.
