Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! Episode 1 Impressions

Swear Alma is rocking Amazon echo devices on her head. o_O

The show was pretty cute and endearing, and looks the part as well. Nothing amazing animation wise though.

Honestly I doubt I'll keep up with this weekly, but could be a binge watch in the future.

2 Spring Seasonal 2025 meh

Well, meh….

This is a late one. These 2 shows didn’t disappoint nor catch the world on fire either…more meh. Want to find out why?

Let’s roll!

Zatsutabi -that’s journey-

First impression

Zatsu isn’t a bad series, in fact I enjoyed it for what it is. CGDCT as Chika writes her own manga. I like Chika, in a way she is quite brave, in that she took the first step in doing something that most would find daunting or scary; travelling by yourself. Now there is a little bit of a cautionary tale here, don’t just go off without telling anyone and importantly, plan ahead. It’s good that she learned from that from her very first solo travel. The other glaring issue is, well…this series is more of a travel billboard for Japan more than anything. They did showcase bits of Japan that most wouldn’t have known about. Other than that, not much really happened.

Summer Pockets

First impression

To be honest, this isn’t a disappointment as I haven’t finished the series. Having said that, despite it being a nice show as I wrote in my first impression, I am struggling to resume watching it. It’s not entirely, summer pockets (or any of the lingering shows) fault, I have been distracted or playing catch up with these shows. From the episodes I have watched, if you’re into Key’s, then this shouldn’t be a skip. As someone that isn’t so heavily invested in keys works, I’ll still finish it, just at my own time, it’s still good, at the moment it hasn’t set my backside on fire for me to resume it in a rush.

So, there you have it. The 2 named didn’t disappoint, left more of a meh feeling. What about you? which 2 spring shows left you feeling disappointed?

Spring Anime 2025 Final Thoughts -

I finished 9 shows from the Spring 2025 Anime season, so I finally put some quick thoughts together of each show.

Spring Anime 2025 Final Thoughts

The World Of G-Nitro

In the last 3 episodes, Gorilla Girl really took an unfavorable turn. Until then it was a nice story about a girl discovering a new strength, getting more confident and finding a romantic partner. Louis and Sophia were extremely sweet together, I liked that it didn’t take forever and there were some really nice scenes.
And then they just presented a misguided villain who they gave a dramatic backstory that could have made him sympathetic - if he wasn’t a complete possessive creep towards Sophia and also power-hungry. I also don’t approve having a group that is supposed to be against privileges and inequality but all they do is bad stuff and their cause doesn’t matter at all. Such a waste.

The direction that the Apothecary Diaries season 2 took in the second half surprised me greatly. There were some things that I didn’t see coming although in hindsight everything makes sense. There were some developments that quite shocked me, too.

But to be honest the very last bit didn’t really convince me because it didn’t feel like things have really changed. It was like those reveals and drastic events weren’t even actually important. I get that Maomao is hard to impress but at the end I would have liked to see that certain things had a notable impact on her …
Anyway it was still overall a great series and I’m not even sure if that was supposed to be the end overall or just the start of a new arc.

Mono was a nice laid-back anime. It was definitely different than YuruCamp and I think I still prefer the latter.
Mono often seemed kind of random with the lack of focus on proper photo club activities. But it was also fun in how random it was and we saw a lot of nice food and places.
Several YuruCamp cameos were als included that were nice to discover especially when they were a bit more subtle.
I didn’t really like the recurring horror theme, especially when it was portrayed like there was actually something spooky be going on. For me that doesn’t quite fit a series that is otherwise so realistic, it just makes superstitions look reasonable.

I finished #KowloonGenericRomance and it was an overall good and interesting story. It answered the most important questions that had been brought up and although there was no detailed explanation of how the GeneTera worked it all kind of made sense in the end. I liked the characters, their different journeys and how it was all about them staying true to who they are.

But somehow…. Somehow I felt like it answered too much and gave closure to too many of the character arcs at once. I thought that the story would have left more of an impression if they had cut the last 5 minutes or so.
