I was scoring at #cricket tonight. My first time. 😬

I was using the Play Cricket scoring app, which means people at home could follow along ball-by-ball.

Thankfully, I had two experienced scorers alongside me. One using a traditional scoring book and annotating the pairs cricket differences; the other using a pairs cricket scoresheet - so it was reassuring when we all had the same score at the end of each over. 😀

It's now over a year since I joined this Cricket and Rugby club. They're a great bunch and it's wonderful that they're so welcoming of a middle aged woman who is not particularly good at sport but is happy to get stuck in. 🙂

Oh. PS. We won, which is nice but doesn't seem to be the most important thing to any of them.

We won tonight's #cricket by 1 run. 😬🙌

This is the new development league. It's softball cricket bats and balls but with standard cricket rules. If you're out, you're out; rather than losing 5 runs like we do in our Pairs Cricket league.

Our best batter was out for a duck in the first over. Oops! Usually she can stay in and hit a few boundaries to make up for the minus 5. Not tonight, though.

It came down to the opposition needing 6 off the last over. Then 3 off the last ball. Everyone on the boundary!!

It was the first #TouchRugby tournament of the season this evening. I reckon I learned more than in a month's worth of training sessions!

This is my second season and it makes a lot more sense now. If only I was faster, more agile and 20 years younger. 😁

I'm going to ache tomorrow.

Early morning is definitely the best time to be out on a hot summer's day.

It's already low 20s C here but the air still seems fresh.

I gave all of my vegetables a good drench last night. I notice that some baby courgettes are a little shrivelled. I wonder if a lack of water has caused that - and will they recover?

I'm playing (softball/pairs) #Cricket this afternoon. It's a "prosecco festival". Thankfully I don't like prosecco so there's no risk of drinking too much booze in the heat!

CSNI Cricket Club (based at Stormont in Belfast) is running two taster sessions for women over 18 who want to get a taste of playing cricket. They are at Grosvenor Grammar School on Thursday, 27th Feb or Thursday, 6th March.
