Much love & respect to Roy Ayers, who has passed away. His catalogue extends beyond Everybody Loves the Sunshine, although that was a landmark recording. Ayers is one of those musicians whose stature continued to grow as he aged. Everybody Loves the Sunshine has been sampled over 100 times. We Live in Brooklyn, Baby was also massive.
One of the great things about Sly and the Family Stone is they created an undeniable soundtrack for diversity & inclusion. Their black & white & male & female 'I am everyday people' thing scared the hell out of conservatives. Still does.

Stevie Wonder released his classic album, Innervisions, on this day (August 3) 1973. One of the singles, He's Misstra Know-It-All, is about a con-man politician. Sounds familiar, and funky AF.
