Probably a cherry tree (Prunus subg. Cerasus), out in the neighborhood.

#Hosta, #creepingMyrtle ( #VincaMinor ), maple (genus Acer). Around here we have plenty of adult maple trees, and I suppose they’re pretty prolific because we see lots of little maple leaves growing all over the place.

Probably an apple tree. Orchard apple or crabapple? Time will tell.

Probably #motherwort ( #LeonurusCardiaca ).

Gardeners are laughing at me, posting these non-descript plants.

Here’s the thing. We had a yard when I was a kid. But I was an indoor cat, just reading all the time. On top of that, although my mother grew up in a small city near Philadelphia and her father had an agricultural background, she didn’t seem to know anything about wildlife at all. So whatever was growing in the yard was um dandelions and non-dandelions.

So yeah I’m just catching up.

#GreatMullein ( #VerbascumThapsus). Apparently a somewhat problematic invasive plant.

#SmallCityLivin

Probably mulberry (Morus spp.).

More backyard creeping phlox (Phlox subulata)

Enjoy a slow thread about yer Grax’s adjustment from big city livin’ to #SmallCityLivin. I will get plant namesβ€”common and scientificβ€”wrong and eagerly invite correction.

We’ll start with some #creepingPhlox ( #PhloxSubulata ) from our backyard.
