one day I may decide not to include the #SpreadMyWings performance video in a #KpopMonday theme for which it qualifies.

today is not that day.

I love them, your honour.

If there ever comes a time when I don't get a bit choked up by that final shot, with Seungmin and Hyunjin combining their hands to form wings on Bang Chan's back, it's probably because I'm cold and dead.

I love the choreo for #DoubleKnot by #StrayKids, as well as the song itself.

it's a shame that the song got overlooked a bit, being released just before Woojin left. there was clearly some not-great stuff happening behind the scenes, with some of the tensions showing in the original 9-member performances and stages.

when they later released an 8-member English version with a new performance video, it felt satisfying.

I still prefer the Korean lyrics (the English doesn't feel natural in the same way that some of their later translated-to-English versions do). but this 8-member choreo feels stronger and more unified. like they were free to be fiercely angry together, and were no longer directing that anger inwards at each other.

here's #District9 from #StrayKids

one of my favourite things about this song is that it starts with #LeeKnow rapping

he was eliminated in the skz survival show because JYP thought his singing wasn't good enough. which, yeah, he'd joined the company a month ago and had been told to ignore singing, just focus on dance. then he was asked to switch to taking a rap part in Hellevator despite having no rap training or practice. then eliminated on the next challenge.

so when skz opened their official debut song with Lee Know performing a rap part, it felt like they were saying Fuck You to anyone who thought he didn't belong in their group.

I don't know if we'll ever know why Woojin left.

But here's a wild theory (that I'm sure I'm not the first person to posit): some skz members seem, uh, a bit queer sometimes.

If some of them are genuinely queer, and someone in the group isn't as comfortable with queerness, that might be a motivating factor in why they left.

Something I noticed yesterday when watching the very last livestream in which Woojin appears: I.N says: "Stray Kids' color is rainbow!" Bang Chan repeats his words. Woojin also cheers for rainbow. It's a bit awkward, and then someone changes the subject.

I don't think they're necessarily using "rainbow" as code for "queer" but I don't think it's out of the question either.

The first livestream after Woojin left was an episode of #ChansRoom with all 8 members (I think the first time they'd all been on Chan's Room at once??)

Bang Chan makes a point of getting Changbin to confirm that the name of the team is Stray Kids, *not* Straight Kids.

There's a bit of the Double Knot choreo where Chan stands in the middle and the others all put their hands on him.

Felix and Seungmin are assigned the central part of Chan's body. Every performance that I've watched so far, Felix's hand placement carefully avoids any, erm, more personal areas. This is very much not a concern for Seungmin.

Some members talk about their significant jewellery in response to a question during a livestream

#Changbin has a chunky bracelet that was a birthday gift from #BangChan, and that he never takes off.

Chan and Changbin had matching bracelets, but Changbin lost his.

(Subtitles are patchy in this video, and there are no subtitles on the bit where Changbin seems to explain how he lost the matching bracelet. My own Korean is way too sketchy and I cannot translate this bit.)

#Felix is being especially clingy and affectionate towards #Seungmin in this livestream

(this is about the time things were secretly going south with Woojin and there are some parts of this livestream that feel a bit ... uncomfortable?? but the #SeungLix bits are sweet)

Just a teensy #MinSung snippet

They're all leaning their heads over the conference table to show off their hair colours.

It's not immediately obvious, but Lee Know's hand is briefly in the middle of Han's back, pressing him down against the table as he bends over.

(I still can't clip on youtube for some reason, so this is a link to a timestamp)

It's my umpteenth viewing of the #SpreadMyWings video because the algorithm knew I'd missed another little morsel.

So I have this headcanon that there's something fishy about Seungmin being the featured vocal in this song even though Woojin was supposedly the main vocal.

(The choreo features Seungmin too, even when he's not singing, which is an anomaly for skz choreo.)

There's a bit towards the end of the song where Seungmin gets to show off like he's the main vocal again, and Woojin's standing next to him doing some supporting ad libs.

There's something about the way they look at each other during this bit that makes me want to sit them down separately with a beverage of their choice and coax them into telling me everything about the other person that pisses them off.
