It's my umpteenth viewing of the #SpreadMyWings video because the algorithm knew I'd missed another little morsel.

So I have this headcanon that there's something fishy about Seungmin being the featured vocal in this song even though Woojin was supposedly the main vocal.

(The choreo features Seungmin too, even when he's not singing, which is an anomaly for skz choreo.)

There's a bit towards the end of the song where Seungmin gets to show off like he's the main vocal again, and Woojin's standing next to him doing some supporting ad libs.

There's something about the way they look at each other during this bit that makes me want to sit them down separately with a beverage of their choice and coax them into telling me everything about the other person that pisses them off.

I don't know why I hadn't made this connection before, but the #SpreadMyWings performance video was filmed on the same day as one of my favourite #SeungChan bits.

Everyone else has to make their own way down the ladder off the rooftop where they've been filming, but #Seungmin gets special treatment because he's a princess.

(And then they limbo under some filming equipment together)

I have watched the #SpreadMyWings performance video a lot of times but haven't really compared it with other versions. So I'm only now noticing some outfit themes that change over time.

* The front of #Changbin's shirt is a black bandana

* Woojin's wearing a black biker jacket (and it's definitely *not* #BangChan's jacket because he hadn't bought it yet)

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo8FPXlI3CU

I don't normally think much about Woojin, or talk about him. I don't intend to speculate on why he left skz, or share any of the rumours about it (most of which seem entirely unsubstantiated).

But I'm going to say this: I don't like him. I don't know if I can fully explain why, even to myself.

It's most likely an artifact of the parasocial relationship. I like the 8 remaining skz members so much. It seems pretty apparent that they don't like Woojin, and that there were a lot of bad feelings around him leaving the group.

I don't know if hindsight is 20/20 (of course it always is to some extent) but when I watch older content with Woojin in it, he often seems like an outsider. The other 8 all seemed to bond tightly and care a lot about each other from the start.

Woojin's seen much less than the others in most of the extra content (outside actual performances). When he *is* featured, it feels like he's a work colleague rather than a part of the freaky intense bond that the others have.

(That's a perfectly reasonable relationship to have with people who are one's work colleagues! God knows I'm not constantly draped over *my* work colleagues, attempting to kiss them and smack their bums whenever I get an opportunity.)

Anyway, back to "Spread My Wings" -- I'm a bit fascinated by how #Seungmin ended up being the featured vocalist in this song.

Woojin was probably the better singer at that point, in a technical sense.

But when 3racha decided to create a song that featured the 3 members of the vocal unit, they chose Seungmin to front it instead of Woojin.

(It may have been partly due to the lyrics, which spoke from the perspective of the younger members, and might have seemed odd coming from an older member. But 3racha didn't have to choose *that* theme for the song.)

It must have stung Woojin to be passed over as featured vocalist for the first skz song that was intended to show off their vocals. Especially since Seungmin ate up the opportunity and left no crumbs.

Then, when they performed the song in concert, over a year later, Seungmin got to wear the black leather biker jacket (instead of Woojin).

There's just a hint of Woojin being unnecessary. Like he was already an outsider long before he actually left, and they may as well just give all his stuff to Seungmin.

I don't have to like him to recognise that it would have been a shitty experience for Woojin.

Oh no I am now on a mission to find more versions of #SpreadMyWings and have noticed more stuff:

* #BangChan wears a black bandana around his neck during the first performance of this song (the 7-member version, from #skzSurvivalShow)

* #Han opens the song instead of #Seungmin ?? somehow I had blanked this from my mind because I always think of this as Seungmin's song

* Seungmin wants us to notice that he is wearing a hoodie with a doggo on it (might even be a wolf?? although that probably wouldn't have had any #SeungChan implications at that point because Bang Chan was more associated with kangaroo than wolf at that point. i think.) #PuppySeungmin ?

* #Changbin is #FlaggingBlackLeft (heavy SM top) !! earliest #skzHankyCode flag that I've discovered so far. but argh i cannot get one good shot of both Changbin and his black bandana because the camera operators and editors don't understand my struggle (also it's not a proper bandana so it's a stretch to call it flagging but eh like that's going to stop me)

Having a minor meltdown over this 2019 performance of #SpreadMyWings, for multiple reasons.

* today's one of the days on which this is my favourite #skz song, and I haven't seen this performance before, and it's so good

(if I ever get to see them perform this song live in person, i may expire on the spot)

* #Changbin's crucifixion lift at the start, aaaaaaa

* #Seungmin is either wearing #BangChan's favourite leather jacket, or one very similar to it (okay yeah it's a black leather biker jacket and there are a million of them in the world, but Chan's one seemed pretty special to him for a while)

* #I_N's outfit is hella cute, and so is he

* Chan is wearing pants that seem to be made out of a bunch of black bandanas sewn together, and a black bandana as a headband, and I wish to classify this as both #FlaggingBlackLeft (heavy SM top) and #FlaggingRightLeft (heavy SM bottom) just because

For #TuneTuesday #WingingIt: there are several #StrayKids songs that compete for the title of My Favourite SKZ Song, and one of them is #SpreadMyWings from their pre-debut album.

#Seungmin's voice aaaa it's so pretty.

I love the little toe-touches in the choreo during the chorus.
