#Skochilenko is less of a public person than other political prisoners exchanged on 1 August and those who yet remain imprisoned. But it's worth recalling acts of peaceful resistance Sasha engaged in & appreciate the courage it took her to face the consequences. @Freedomforsasha https://twitter.com/sevslv/status/1725424352017916160?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon

Yesterday St Petersburg artist Sasha #Skochilenko, who replaced price tags in supermarkets with antiwar slogans, was convicted of 'spreading fakes about the army' and sentenced to 7 years. 7 for price tags. Decency is heroism; such are the times. People were chanting: "Shame!"

On August 1, 2024, Russia and multiple Western countries carried out the largest prisoner swap of its kind since the end of the Cold War. Thirteen of the political prisoners freed by Moscow were flown to Germany, where they were immediately sent to a military hospital in the city of Koblenz for medical evaluations. The former inmates were issued hospital wear, though it didn’t fit everybody, so some of them stayed in their prison uniforms. Meduza photographer Evgeny Feldman went to the hospital to document his compatriots’ first hours of freedom.

Russland: Sieben Jahre Haft wegen Antikriegsaktion

Die Künstlerin Aleksandra Skochilenko muss sieben Jahre ins Gefängnis, weil sie Informationen gegen den Krieg verbreitet hat.

She didn’t “stage a protest”.

She put stickers on packages with antiwar messages on them. Stickers.

Regardless, 33-year-old Alexandra #Skochilenko got 7 years in prison in #Russia for that, which is an obscene mockery of justice, in a place where everyone must agree with the great leader.
