I finished Caught in the Act by Shane Jenek AKA Courtney Act!
Lots of sex! But also lots of thoughtful exploration of gender, sexuality and human connection across multiple contexts (Brisbane, Sydney, LA...)
I really enjoyed how Jenek/Act weaved in current events throughout, plus the occasional Judith Butler quote.
It was also lovely to read a queer memoir that involved such a loving family of origin.

I should mention that I've been getting all these queer books through Brisbane City Council Libraries - can't praise them enough!
Courtney Act was Brisbane born who, like so many of us, headed south the moment high school finished. Going by the intro, this one should be a hoot!

Went to see Shane Jenek (Courtney Act) in conversation at the newly erected(!) Pleasuredome at the Brisbane Powerhouse last night. Shane is a Meeanjin hometown boy so it was a triumphant return, with a packed house. Thoughtful, open and witty. It was an evening well spent. This was the sunset before the show.
