Unpopular but factual take:
Sensitivity readers should always be used when you're writing about a group you don't belong to. If nothing else to weed out:
Unconscious bias
Stereotypes
Offensive slurs
Tropes
Factual inaccuracies
Racism/Sexism/homophobia/transphobia etc.
You're not being censored or cancelled, you're not being told you can only write characters who look like you. It's about creating richer, nuanced characters.
Hmm. Good blog. Me I'd put some # on it and tag the RPG boost group.
I've mostly written dry technical manuals but how do you charge? By the book? The project? The word?
I don't even know how to budget a sensitivity reader in for fundraising purposes unlike art, writing, design, editing and that's something I'd like to change.
I’m a 10 yr copywriting veteran, 5 yr publishing veteran, looking for work in the realm of #freelance writing, editing, proofreading, sensitivity reading and anything else I can support you with. UK-based. I can provide good references on request. I’d appreciate any leads. It’s quite urgent.

Sensitivity readers for hire
We have a number of readers on a beta roster who offer sensitivity feedback on various perspectives. Get in touch for more info!
How and where to find a beta reader? While there are online communities where you can find free beta readers, it's not always easy to recruit people who will actually finish reading your manuscript and deliver feedback. A beta reader is not an editor or proofreader, but will offer a helpful reader perspective.
