I should buy Janthir Wilds. I'm pretty sure it will be fun enough. (SotO was fun enough, with all its problems)

But boy golly do I still stand by saying that we used to get much more for one year of release. "Content drought" or not, when the release came it wasn't 4× ONE HOUR of content for the year. Somewhat exaggerating. Let's make it four times two hours. I'm sure we had more story in LS3 and LS4 (and those were released in parts), and they didn't cost like an entire expansion worth.

HoT and PoF were both released hot (heheh) on the trails of their preceding living world episode and the story wasn't four times one hour for 25 eurobucks.

But okay, first time for the new approach. Fine. I am curious about the new things. I want to know what they'll tell us and if it provides any more cohesion (because by all means Isgarren's entire essence is being not cohesive with Tyria at all).

But you know what kinda bothers me about the one year, one expansion cadence? The game has become not free to play, in a way. You pay a yearly fee to continue playing what comes up — as living stories were all free, but they have been replaced by "lite" expansions.

I don't mind having to pay. I probably got way more than my money's worth, in total, in terms of fun and entertainment, in the last 10 years. I'm glad to support the continued life of my beloved world. But it sure does feel like it kinda goes against the game's old ethos, even if it's not pay-for-access-in-general. You get what I mean.

The 4th expansion of #GuildWars2 entitled #SecretsOfTheObscure is too long for someone with a day job. 😅

I'm still not done, and it's been a week since launch.

First time I experienced this with #GW2 since 12 years ago when it first launched.

I am really enjoying #GuildWars2's new expansion, #SecretsoftheObscure.

I'm not very far in yet (so no spoilers ahead), what I *will* share however is that despite not knowing R'tchikk & Gladium for very long, they immediately became my favourite characters introduced in the new expansion.

I love them.

"Oh man, there's so little to do! I have everything. So boring."

"OH NO I HAVE TO ACQUIRE RELICS NOW WHAT THE FUCK THIS ENDLESS GRIND IS HORRIBLE!!!"
