Tonight is the very last night of Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember. The final film I rolled was Exploited (2022).

Not as big a dent as hoped but 🤷‍♂️

Also a reminder:

TONIGHT IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO MUTE BURD'S #31NightsOfHorror

This will be my first Masto / #Fediween and folks may not be prepared. After tomorrow, I will ONLY be posting movie stuff on the 31 Nights hash until the end of Oct.

Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember 2023

I keep adding films to my watchlist at an untenable rate. This marks the third year of me trying to put a dent in it during September by shuffling my watchlist at least once a day to get 20 random entries, then rolling a d20 to make the final selection. Rolls will often be subject to availability and I am going to try to keep it pretty casual. My list is predominantly horror and genre adjacent stuff but I'm not gonna be a stickler. This is all really just pre-workout before tackling Burd's #31NightsOfHorror 2023 come October.

Right, so Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember took kind of an unscheduled hiatus the past few days.

Going to try and get back on track by watching my original roll from Friday (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) tonight.

Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember Days 8-14 Update:

Crossed some fun ones off the Watchlist. Although, I've probably added an equal amount of new entries this week...

Highlight: We Might Hurt Each Other (2022) is an excellent modern update to the Slasher.

Low Point: Ben Affleck in Gone Girl (2014). Enjoyed the watch but he soured it quite a bit for me.

Special Mention: A Man Escaped (1956), a slow but tense escape film that I dug a bunch.

Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember Days 1-7 Update

It's been a healthy mix so far. I tend to trust my intuition for what I add to my watchlist, which keeps my chances low of getting something that I outright dislike.

Highlight: The Scarehouse (2014) - A VERY mean Sorority revenge film that kept me on my toes.

Low Point: Cocaine Bear (2023) a snoozer in need of a practical bear suit.

Special Mention: Child in the Night (1990) for Elijah Wood's *adorable* debut.

Skipping out on doing a proper last four watched for the week.

It's September 1st and that marks the beginning of Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember.

I expect to keep it low key & just do weekly recaps here in thread, if you'd like to follow along, the list is the best place:

I've already rolled up tonight's first pick, When Animals Dream (2014).

When & for what reason did I add it to my watchlist? No idea! Exciting, isn't it?

I have 1,781 entries in my film watchlist. A majority of which are horror/genre adjacent.

I'll never truly put a dent in it, but I've made a habit of turning Septembers into Burd's #ScaryShuffleSeptember.

Simple enough premise, everyday I shuffle my Letterboxd Watchlist to get 20 random suggestions, then role a d20 to find out what I'm watching that night.

I won't be doing play by play posting, but rather the occasional recap during the month. We'll see how I do.
