@davidaugust you have to take into consideration that *outside the USA* socialism is not uniformly considered "a bad thing". Socialist parties have been in goverment in several European countries. And, yes, here we call all those "things" Socialism without irony. Ironically though, some like to rename it "Social Democracy".

To misunderstand Truman’s point here, that inside and outside the US the word “socialist” has been used as a scaremongering word, is a bit counterproductive.
