Yellow-Crowned Night Herons are awesome birds. I had never seen one before I ran into a tree by North Pond that they nested in back five or six years ago. They were such strange-looking, beautiful creatures. I have delighted in seeing many in the following years as well as baby YCNHs (who are brown and spotted so they look just like part of a log!).

I think I’m attending my very first rally tomorrow. The #TownshipofLangley is considering rezoning a wetland in order to expand industrial land. The sign went up very recently and it seems like they are trying to get this through before the public has much chance to be informed or protest the loss of wetlands.
