Dutch invention at the base of world particulate pollution map - DutchNews.nl

The Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON) in Leiden presented a map on Friday showing fine particulate levels across the world based on an invention by Dutch scientists. The map, which shows the average particulate pollution between March and December 2024, was made using SPEXone, an instrument developed by a consortium including SRON, Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands. The instrument was launched on NASA climate satellite PACE a year ago and its measurements have now resulted in the first worldwide...

Successful launch of #NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem mission #PACE! 🚀 🛰️

Its three instruments #OCI, #HARP2, and #SPEXone will give valuable data on phytoplankton in oceans, cloud formation, and fine particles in the atmosphere, to better monitor ocean health, air quality, and climate change.

The NL-built SPEXone polarimeter was developed by #SRON and #AirbusNL, supported by #TNO, to give unsurpassed polarimetric accuracy.

NASA PACE - Home

PACE's technologies will provide unprecedented insight into Earth's ocean and atmosphere, which impact life by regulating climate and making Earth habitable

And indeed: no launch today!

The launch of NASA’s PACE mission has been rescheduled for 8 Feb 07:33 CET / 06:33 GMT, see https://blogs.nasa.gov/pace/

Had I already mention it has an NL-built instrument on board? SPEXone, an amazing polarimeter!

NASA TV will be live-streaming the launch, presumably still at https://youtube.com/live/AtP0upSa_pU

PACE Mission

EDIT: delayed until 8 Feb.

It’s not looking great for tomorrow morning, currently the weather is about 50% for launch, see https://blogs.nasa.gov/pace/

Keep your fingers crossed for the launch of NASA’s PACE mission, with SPEXone!

Currently foreseen for 7 Feb, 07:33 CET / 06:33 GMT. NASA TV will be live-streaming it at https://www.youtube.com/live/AtP0upSa_pU

PACE Mission

EDIT: plus another 24h makes everything shift to the 8th, same times!

Alas, 24h delays because of strong winds!

Tomorrow morning 7 Feb, again at 07:33 CET / 06:33 GMT - the launch of NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem mission PACE, carrying the NL-built SPEXone instrument.

Launch stream: 7 February from 06:45 CET / 05:45 GMT at https://www.youtube.com/live/AtP0upSa_pU
