Of course #CruellaBraverman only wants “news” outlets who support her views to be there. Freedom of press & freedom of speech are clearly falling by the wayside these days. #ImmigrationBill #RwandaDeportations #FuckTheTories https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/mar/18/braverman-criticised-for-shutting-out-guardian-and-bbc-from-rwanda-trip?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

Home secretary accused of rewarding favourable coverage on visit aimed at reinforcing government’s migration plan

The Guardian

"I've seen every single poll on the issue with every variety of wording and there is not one where the Rwanda policy has majority support."

"Call me old fashioned, but I would like it if the Home Secretary didn't lie about something so blatantly and provably untrue at the dispatch box."

U.K. politics and policy expert.

Suella Braverman can say what she likes about moving at speed to facilitate deportations of refugees to Rwanda. And she has.

None of her words mean anything when we remember the ECHR has issued an injunction preventing deportations until the legal process has been exhausted.

The truth is, Suella may have to wait years for her dream to come true. And the other truth is, she just hasn't got those years left as Home Secretary.

"The partial victory for the government does not mean flights will be able to take off straight away. There are expected to be further appeals, and a European court of human rights injunction in the summer prevented immediate deportations until the legal process has been exhausted. Lawyers and NGOs claimed that the legal process “could take years” rather than months."

If you're just tuning in from elsewhere in the world, yes, you read that right.

The U.K. government wants to deport refugees and would-be asylum seekers to Rwanda rather than accept their claims here.

The U.K.s' highest court has just ruled that this inhumane policy is NOT a breach of the U.K. government's obligations under International Law.

The Struggle Continues...
