I'm looking forward to the No Kings 3 rally tomorrow! I'm going to volunteer at this one which is a first for me. I'm hoping that the community shows up even stronger than last time. In times like these, it's so encouraging to see my neighbors standing together in solidarity.

I went for a walk in my neighborhood and I heard a recording saying that I was on video. I guess the house has a surveillance system that detects pedestrians and then plays the message. A few houses down another house had the same kind of system.

I felt startled, uncomfortable but also confused. I can see the cameras, why do they need to play a message? (maybe it is for accessibility?). In that moment, I really could use some trust and warmth. I would much prefer a "good morning" from a neighbor than this recorded message.

I saw some dark eyed juncos over the past few days around our yard in Rutherford, NJ. In our area we only see them in the winter. I like these little birds! They have a nice gray and white coloring. I like their attitude too. I see then in little groups, busily but playfully foraging. At least that's how it looks to me!

Thankfully the rabbi and his family who live there made it out OK, but the building was completely destroyed.

I really enjoyed the No Kings rally today in Rutherford, NJ. Despite some rainy weather there was a good turnout. The energy was upbeat.

I am glad I went to a local protest today. It was nice to know there are others in the area who want to resist this regime. I chatted with several people. I ended up even inviting one of the people met to join the fediverse!

My area in Rutherford, NJ, has been having a very dry fall. I checked the drought.gov site, and we are, in fact, in a moderate drought, the D1 classification. But other areas have it much worse.
