Indian Student Allegedly Forced to Join Russian Army After Drug Charges in Russia

Sahil Majothi, a 22-year-old Indian from Gujarat, was captured by Ukrainian forces and is reportedly the first Indian detained in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. He moved to Russia in early 2024 to study computer engineering but was accused of drug-related charges during a package delivery in A... [More info]

**Russia’s Air Force Loses Another Ka-52: The Most Shot-Down Helicopter of the War**
Russia has lost yet another Ka-52 “Alligator” attack helicopter. Reports of the downing surfaced in Ukrainian channels and were later confirmed by open-source intelligence. According to preliminary information, the crew did not survive.
Originally designed as the flagship of Russia’s army aviation, the Ka-52 has instead become a symbol of the vulnerability of Russian hardware in modern warfare. Despite its heavy armor, advanced optics, and powerful missiles, the helicopter has proven highly susceptible to man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) such as Stingers, Igla, and other next-generation systems widely used by Ukrainian forces.
According to British intelligence, Russia has lost around **40 Ka-52 helicopters** since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The Oryx project, which only counts visually verified losses, lists **more than 23 confirmed shootdowns** — over a quarter of the pre-war fleet, estimated at roughly 90 units.
On paper, the Ka-52 looks formidable: a top speed exceeding 300 km/h, armored cockpit, “Vikhr” laser-guided missiles, and night-combat capability. In real combat, however — without consistent air cover, coordination, or logistical support — even advanced hardware becomes an easy target.
The main cause of high losses lies in Russia’s tactical approach. Pilots often fly at extremely low altitudes to avoid radar detection, which makes them more vulnerable to portable air-defense systems. Combined with poor command coordination and maintenance issues, the result is a perfect storm of attrition.
Western analysts now describe the Ka-52 as “the most shot-down helicopter of the modern war.” Each destroyed unit is not just a number — it represents years of crew training, advanced electronics, and expensive imported components that are increasingly scarce under sanctions.
In response, Moscow is attempting to replace losses with older Mi-24 and Mi-28 models, but their survivability is also questionable. Ukraine’s air-defense network continues to evolve faster than Russia’s aviation can adapt.
The story of the Ka-52 is therefore more than a tally of wrecks. It’s a clear demonstration of how the myth of “invincible Russian aviation” collapses under the weight of battlefield reality. As Russia pours billions into rebuilding its fleet, Ukraine continues dismantling its mythology — with precision, ingenuity, and cost-effective air defenses.
