And this is the last photo for today. This country lane is closed to through motor traffic except for residents and farm vehicles. There's a camera noting number plates of drivers so that they can be sent a fine. It doesn't apply to bicycles of course so through we go. This helps to keep country lanes quiet for cycling.
This is one of the ways in which the Dutch countryside is traffic calmed.

It was fairly windy today, 6 on the beaufort scale, but I went on a 50 km round trip to get something for a friend who's been helping with the website recently.

As usual for the Netherlands, most of the journey could be made on cycle-paths, such as this one alongside a main road to the right of the image. We have priority over the upcoming side road.

But on the way back I took a slightly different route on some narrow country lanes. These have also been improved recently. In an attempt to solve the problem of rat-running in the countryside, anyone who drives a car along here now will get a fine, except for residents, farm tractors etc.

Anyway, that means that this narrow road is now really pleasant by bike, when before it could be a bit busy.
There were no cars at all to see along here today.
