Man, I hate it, when I have to take up the burden to be #reviewer2, but every now and then you get a paper on your desk that simply doesn't cut it or basically consists of just a lot of filler, instead of presenting the data that's actually of interest.
Today I have been #Reviewer2, #reviewer2isMe .
I feel sullied by the experience and feel like peer review is dying.
The paper had such a flawed experimental methodology, unexplained weird results that were just random and followed no discernible pattern.
This was the second time: I recommended rejection of the first draft, but the other two reviewers thought it could be revised and resubmitted.
That's approx. 2 days of my life wasted. But the authors themselves have wasted much more time.
