Die Versuchung der unmittelbaren Drehung des Buschfunkes | 7.5 x 7.5 cm | Acryl/Öl auf Papier

"Entropische Welten" Der Begriff Entropie (griechisches Kunstwort: ἐντροπία entropía, aus εν- en- ‚ein-‘, ‚in-‘ und τροπή tropē ‚Wendung‘, ‚Umwandlung‘) hat mehrere Bedeutungen. Im Zyklus "Entropische Welten" greife ich zugleich die Begrifflichkeit aus der Informationstheorie, Mathematik und Physik auf. Ich konzipiere ein Kunstwerk und zerschneide es anschließend anhand eines zufälligen Rasters in einzelne Bestandteile. Das ursprüngliche Kunstwerk zerfällt in kleinere Kunstwerke und jedes durch diesen Prozeß neu gewonnene Bild wird Bestandteil des Zyklus „Entropische Welten“. Diese umgestalteten Bilder liegen einer Zufallsvariablen (Mathematik) zugrunde, leiden unter einem Informationsmangel (Informationstheorie) und folgen dem Prinzip der Umwandlung (Physik).

In addition to the annual theme-specific, cross-disciplinary exhibition series of the G.A.S. station, the project series x|y|z:Raumprojekt is an experimental exhibition format in which artists can develop a thematic spatial installation for the large exhibition space. This year, artists were inspired by text fragments from the literary work AUGUSTINAselbst (Elisa Asenbaum, Passagen Verlag, 2016).

When you stand in Orthuber's spatial installation, you feel like you are in another world, as if you were walking through a dream landscape. The great thing about it is that you can actually enter the work of art, then be in the work, even stand on it. The floor is made of fluffy, fragile paper structure and cardboard: a room-filling carpet of bright red. Blue objects are scattered and piled up. This color combination of red and blue is typical for the artist.

Spit out from the other world?
The artist was inspired by scenes from AUGUSTINA itself. In this story, various things and ways of thinking from our reality penetrate Augustina's dream world, her retreat. In this way, the protagonist is also confronted with "our reality" and current problems in her dreams.
