I spent the afternoon configuring v4l2 hardware usage and OBS filters on Debian 13. I finally got the Razer Kiyo Pro to behave without proprietary drivers. kiyoproctrls was also useful.

The overhead rig is ready for some live hardware unboxing.

I should have made more of a song and dance when I purchased this a few weeks back, a nice and fancy webcam, the #RazerKiyoPro , a significant upgrade from my more generic webcam that I bought from Amazon a few years back.

Seriously, the fact that the Razer comes bundled with Software has somewhat blown my mind, there are buttons and toggles and settings that quite frankly overwhelm the heck out of me!

Sadly, as it stands, the next while, the channel will be using the older webcam until mid/late January on the main games, as I have recorded in bulk in the run-up to Christmas. in fact my main aim is to always be somewhere in the region of a month ahead, that way it gives me some breathing room when real life stuff comes up. The new camera is being used on Super Auto Pets, as that is recorded on a weekly basis, so you will see the difference there.

Now, I just need to figure out how to stop it from freezing up every now and again...
