A walk in the Molignée valley, Belgium
11th August 2023
1/ A statue of a cockerel outside Anhée town hall. A rooster is the emblem of Wallonia, the Francophone part of Belgium. As expected, the musical notation and piano keyboard are nonsense.
2/ The railway line that used to run along the valley has been converted into a long distance path for walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users, etc. called the RAVeL 150. We joined the path at the former station in Anhée.
3, 4/ I assume this concrete post with a bolt head protruding from the top is something to do with the former railway.
5/ The "Villa des Lapins", a restaurant near the path.
6/ In some places the L150 path is close to the river Molignée.
7/ One stretch of the original railway survives and is used for draisines / rail-bikes. These happy customers are on the downhill return part of their journey.
8/ Unusual sleeper design with concrete ends joined by steel angle.
